The Chief Minister is the topmost representative of people in any state. So it is proper that he/she should have a house which is like the people's house, maybe bungalow scale (bigger), but it has to look like the houses that the people have been building for centuries. The CM's Residence has to be modern bungalow but uses a vocabulary from the rich vernacular traditions from Uttarakhand. Therefore we borrowed liberally from various buildings all over the state. The proportions, materials, the motifs, the carvings and in fact the entire building vocabulary is from GARHWAL and KUMAON, the two main regions of state which are subtly different in their culture and art.

An extensive research was taken up to document the art and building traditions of these regions.
